Beyond the Firewall: Preeti Dabir’s journey through the fields of Privacy and Cybersecurity

Preeti Dabir, a proud alumnus of BITS Pilani (Goa, ’06) with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and Masters in Economics, is a privacy and data protection expert. After passing out from BITS, she got a second Master’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Initially, she interned in the market research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan during her PS-2 and later joined as a Research Associate in the Information, Communications & Technology team, and currently serves as a Product Risk Program Manager at Meta, where she leads privacy-related initiatives in advanced technologies such as AR, XR, and VR in the Reality Labs division, using Privacy by Design principles. Before that, she had held leadership roles at Deloitte (Advisory Cyber Risk Services), where she specialised in privacy and data protection for global clients. With over a decade’s worth of experience in the field, Preeti established herself as a leading figure in the privacy industry. Her story is truly a remarkable one.

From BITS Pilani to Amazon: A Conversation with Applied Scientist Pratik Lahiri

Mr. Pratik Lahiri, a 2011 graduate from BITS Pilani Goa Campus who pursued his Masters in Biological Sciences and Bachelors in Computer Science, later pursued Masters’ in Bioengineering followed with PhD in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Currently, He’s working at Amazon as an Applied Scientist currently working on Alexa Plus and making its working more personalized, He has also worked in the Search Customer Experience team of the Amazon retail website to deliver USD 150MM+ in incremental revenue. At BITS, he was a part of BITSAA (BITS Alumni Association) on campus team of Goa campus and Treasurer for Symbionts (Biological Sciences Association)
